I am Arab
My card number is fifty thousand
My children are eight
And their ninth... will come after the summer!
Do you get angry?
The Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish wrote the poem “I Am Arab,” which is one of the most important national poems. It was published in his second collection of poems, “The Olive Leaves,” published in 1964. The number of verses in the poem is 66 lines, distributed over six stanzas. It is a type of free poetry that relies on the activation of two reactants.

Inspiration was taken from this poem, and I combined it with my own way of expression by using unstudied Arabic handwriting to express the randomness of the feelings that the Arab feels, including feelings bearing the nature of freedom, anger, and hope.
